Minnesota Property Tax Facts

What do Minnesotans really want to know about their property taxes?

Who do I call, who do I talk to, what do I do. I am 4.5 years behind on property taxes. Just about 6 grand. The county wants over 9 grand by Dec 31st, 09 or they are going to file to have the state capture our home.

They refuse to talk to me or take payments. I have sent payments to them and they send them back to me telling me they want the full amount and can not accept partial payments. When I call to talk to them they tell me they cant talk to me. I am not the husband I am the wife. Which is bizzare because we bought this house together as a married couple over 15 years ago.

We had a rough couple of years, and where just trying to get things back together, and not the economy has fallen apart. We dont have 6 grand or 9 grand and dont have the credit to borrow those kinds of monies.

WHAT DO WE DO? Where do we start? Is there anything we can do, is there any hope?

my email is lacook@charter.net

Thanks

Depending on your age, you may be able to participate in MN's deferral program. Look it up in the Department of Revenue website. It works like a reverse mortgage.
